At just 16 years old, Dr. Suraj embarked on his bodybuilding journey by participating in his very first competition, the Mr. Madurai Bodybuilding Show. Competing fiercely in the 60kg category, he secured an impressive 4th place, igniting his passion and ambition for the sport.
2014
Determined to reach the pinnacle, Dr. Suraj set his eyes on gold. At the age of 17, he not only achieved his goal by winning his first gold medal in the 65kg bodybuilding category but also took a significant step forward academically by entering Velammal Medical College as a first-year MBBS student, blending his passion for fitness and healthcare seamlessly.
2015
During his 2nd year of MBBS in 2018, fueled purely by determination and without financial support from his family, Dr. Suraj established his first gym under the proud brand name ATLAS. To promote the Atlas brand, he competed in Mr. Madurai 2018, winning gold in the 65kg category and clinching the overall championship title. Continuing his momentum, he actively participated in state bodybuilding shows throughout 2019, consistently securing medals and solidifying Atlas Gym's growing reputation.
2018 - 2019
As the COVID pandemic disrupted the fitness industry, Dr. Suraj innovatively pivoted by launching a comprehensive Online Coaching Program, successfully training and transforming numerous clients remotely while other gyms remained closed.
2021
Upon completing his undergraduate medical degree (MBBS) in 2022, Dr. Suraj took a significant leap by opening the second branch, ATLAS PREMIUM. Equipped with modern facilities and extensive floor space, Atlas Premium quickly established itself among the top five gyms in Madurai by the end of 2023. Simultaneously, he expanded into the supplement market by launching ATLAS NUTRITION, capturing a new audience within the fitness community.
2023
Having stabilized his thriving business ventures, Dr. Suraj pursued advanced education by enrolling in the postgraduate program in Emergency Medicine at Velammal Medical College & Hospital. Skillfully balancing his academic responsibilities and entrepreneurial ventures, he continued to personally guide client transformations, supported by his dedicated Atlas team.
2024
Atlas Gym further expanded its footprint by introducing the franchise model. Successfully seizing this opportunity, the very first Atlas franchise opened in Teppakulam, Madurai, marking a significant milestone and setting the stage for further growth across the region.
